Why are some people born to a life filled with suffering?

Disclaimer: This answer might be a bit confusing, if the reader is not ready.

You see, we are just a tiny part of a large system, which is this Universe. And, it does not make sense until you understand and accept that we keep coming into this world, time and again, till our goal is achieved.

This question is raised because the big picture is not seen or understood.

So, what is the big picture? The big picture of life is that we are a part of the system and whatever we do, good or bad, tends to affect us and others. "Others" does not just mean other humans, but all beings in this world and beyond.

Nature punishes or rewards us, based on our actions. And the reward or punishment is based on the quantum of our past actions, good or not so good.

To understand clearly, we should first know that nature is a very just system in place. See, whenever we deposit money in the bank, we get paid interest. On the other hand, when we take a loan, we have to pay an interest and repay the loan too.

Nature works just like that. Whatever we give, we get back with interest. Whatever we take, nature will take back with interest. We can never cheat nature. This system works, whether one believes in God or not.

We are here to play a game. And we play many such games in a perpetual tournament. The good thing is that we tend to carry forward the goodwill gained from each game to the next. And, most importantly, we are expected to play fair. Unfair practices are penalized.

Now, try to visualize the thousands of nuclear explosions that were carried out by the different countries, in the name of experiment. Imagine the millions of lives (plants, insects, animals) were terminated due to the radiation. How will the people who were in the line of control be rewarded by nature?

Extreme cruelty vs Extreme compassion

This is just an example. People do a lot of bad things in the thought that they are all powerful and nobody can do a thing against them.

In our world live people of the two extremes and many in between. One extreme slices another human’s neck without batting an eyelid while another, who will not even step on an ant, out of extreme compassion. Both types live on this same Earth, one an example of extreme cruelty, while the other is extremely compassionate.

When these two are born again, by the order of nature, one will naturally expect them to lead extremely different lives.

So, is it possible that people born to a life filled with suffering?

The moment we realize that nature is extremely fair and unlike humans, is not prejudiced, we will understand life. We are judged by our actions and our actions alone.

In that context, if we are living a life full of suffering, we have asked for it. Our past life performance is taken into account while we are given a new life here. It is just like any other game that we play.

So, the answer to the question is, “Yes, it is possible”, as our suffering is directly proportional to the suffering that we caused others during our past games/lives.

And the solution to our problems, lies in ACCEPTANCE.
