What is the power of prayer?

The power of prayer is directly proportional to the spiritual power in the praying person. It means that the more ascended you are spiritually, the more powerful your prayer.

Yes, spirituality is also like any other subject; there are people who are in kindergarten and there are others who have a doctorate. Also, a person of religion need not necessarily be spiritual. Likewise, an atheist may be inherently spiritual, even though he/she may not be aware of it.

Our power of prayer is proportionate to the magnitude of our love for self, others and all things in this Universe. What we love, we do not harm.

I would like to use the analogy of a wireless transmitter here. If we have the most powerful and correctly tuned device, it is heard clearly by those who need to hear it.

Those people whose devices are not powerful enough, practice certain shortcuts to get their job done.

We have all seen people using amulets, visiting dargahs, temples and praying for resolution of their problems.

There is also another sub-question here, why and what do we pray for?

Does the mother oblige every time her child asks for ice cream? She doesn’t. She knows when and where to oblige the request. The premise is that we, as children, do not know what we want. So, let us just pray for the blessings.

There is already a system in place. We need to just recall our creator with gratitude every possible moment of our lifetime. We only need to pray for the wellness of everything in this world (that includes us). Lokah Samasthaa Sukhino Bhavanthu! [Let all the Universe be happy!] Things will automatically happen!
