This is probably one of the most followed subject on Earth, by those who believe in it and those who do not.
There is an old Tamil saying "Andathil ullathu pindathilullathu (அண்டத்தில் உள்ளது பிண்டத்தில் உள்ளது)". It literally means "Our body is a copy of the Universe". So, if we understand our body, we have understood the Universe".
Essentially, it means “To know the micro, relate with the macro. To know the macro, relate with the micro”, which means that we can understand what we do not know by comparing with something about which we know.
The question here is “Why should I believe in destiny?”. What is destiny? Destiny is something that is already determined (based on our past actions).
Is there proof of destiny in real life? Lots! We lend money and get it back in time. Sometimes, we lend money and do not get it back. In the mean time, somebody hits a jackpot in a lottery. Do these all happen by coincidence?
To answer this question, we need to ask “Is there anything in this world that happens automatically?”. Does the bank come knocking on our door seeking interest without us taking a loan from it? Does the plant grow automatically without watering? What happens when we pour hot water instead of cold water for our plant?
The reason why we do not believe in destiny is that because the consequences may not happen in one life time. When we commit an act, the result or reaction for that may take a long time to happen. It is similar to our watering our fledgling mango plant. The fruits come in 7-8 years and may be our children will be enjoying its fruits.
All our actions are like that. We do not know when it will happen, but the repercussions will happen.
The problem with this generation is the bad education system, which trains us all to read and write, but does not train us to respect each other.
We are not made to realize that what we do we beget. It is not about religion; it is how nature works.
If we were taught to respect the freedom and rights of others in schools, we would not have such a mess in this world. It has become “I” and “MY” in place of “WE” and “OUR”, both individually and collectively (in the case of race, religion etc), without realizing that “I” and “MY” attitude would come to haunt us in the far future.
That is the bane of this society.
Here is a real life example of destiny, to give us understanding on the meaning of destiny. There was this software engineer, returning from office in the wee hours of the morning, around 2am, when the bike ran out of fuel. The road is empty, it is not time yet for the birds to wake and you can practically hear the silence. The petrol station was about 3 kilometers ahead. He started pushing the bike (weighing 100+ kilos).
Suddenly, out of nowhere came an auto rickshaw which stopped by him and the driver enquired about the problem. He then graciously offered to push the bike to the nearest petrol station.
And so, he towed the bike to the petrol station and left after confirming it was open.
Destiny is the right/wrong thing happening at the right/wrong time. All of destiny is dependent upon our past actions, not necessarily in this life.
The auto driver could have simply passed by, without stopping. He didn’t.
Again, instead of the helpful auto rickshaw driver, it could have been two goons sighting an easy prey in a deserted road, in the middle of the night. Then, things could’ve been different.
That would have been Destiny too.
Towing a motorbike: Towing or pushing a bike means to extend either of the limbs (from a bike or an auto) and connect to a strong part, such as the silencer of the to be towed motorbike, maintaining contact while accelerating. Thus the motorbike is towed along to the destination. The driver of the motorbike sits on the bike and ensures balance and stability.
