Why is revenge not such a good idea

We came into this world with not much information about Life. We do not know where we came from. We do not know where we are going after this life is over.

So, what is the best option for us?

For all us rational beings, it would be the path of least resistance.

We will try to understand.

Look at Life as a whole

Life in this universe makes sense, only and only if we start seeing it as a whole; one single, conscious, responding and alive entity.

Once we understand this, living here is going to be a joyful adventure. We will then know and realize that the cosmos wants only our well-being and wants us to elevate our consciousness to a higher level.

Nature communicates all the time

Nature around us is always in communication with us. That is the nature of nature. It is us that do not receive and respond.

Now, let us come to the topic. 

Why is revenge such a bad idea?

Consider this scenario.

Arjun hits Bharat, Bharat hits back twice. Charlie friend of Bharat sees Arjun hitting Bharat. Charlie also joins Bharat in hitting Arjun back.

Later on, what happens is Arjun's bike hits a cyclist by mistake. Charlie sees it. And, Charlie (remembers the earlier incident) starts beating Arjun on the pretext of him hitting the cyclist. See, this is how nature works.

So, for just hitting Bharat, Arjun has received response four times over.

In this situation, if Arjun takes the help of his friends to hit back at Bharat and Charlie, things will go from bad to worse. The cycle will continue.

This is what is happening the world over.

What is the solution?

The solution is for Bharat to take the hit and not respond. Or for Arjun to take the retaliation in silence and not respond. Because, they both deserved it.

If Bharat did not respond in the first instance, nature will put the hit in Arjun's debit and respond in time.

Or, if Arjun did not respond to Bharat's hit back, then the hit debit goes into Bharat's account. Arjun's and Bharat's accounts are tallied and if Bharat is in the debit, nature responds to Bharat in time.

Otherwise, the accounts are closed on both sides Arjun and Bharat.

'Eye For an Eye' or 'Turn the Other Cheek'?

So, it is for us to decide, individually, whether we will go for revenge, and propagate the enmity, or turn the other cheek and end the cycle right here.

Why don't we see the whole picture?

The problem is that these things that we described above, may or may not happen in one life time.

And, if it does not happen in a single life time, man thinks he has been wronged and retaliates, responds, because he does not remember.

This makes the cycle of Life more complicated.

The key to understanding is that Nature responds in time, based on our actions, which is why, it is a bad idea to take things in our hands.

Since, we now know how nature works, it is up to us to lead a life of acceptance and make life simple.
