What's the karma behind being murdered?

Disclaimer: This piece may or may not make any sense to you. If it is the latter, request you to pass.

Karma loosely defined is getting back what one invested, with interest.

“Getting murdered” is being at the wrong place at the wrong time!

As far as we know, there are 3 types of death which are kala marana (death due to old age), akaala marana (out of time with diseases, accident) and dur marana (murder, suicide etc).

It is believed that except kala marana, the other two can be avoided by spiritual practices. Akaala marana and dur marana are the result of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This may seem far fetched, but it is a fact that the cosmos (nature) is in constant communication with us. Nature guides us on whether each of our actions are to be done or not, every time.

Our spiritual guides, guardian angels, Omens, intuitions and our sub-conscious are all a part of this humongous system. So, whenever we are in trouble, one or more of these will be able to help us at that moment.

The skeptics may say that there are no spiritual guides, guardian angels etc. To them, we would say, “It would be most stupid of man to think that we are alone in this Universe”. If you still persist, call it “Nature”.

The incidents that happen to us, may be totally unrelated and might even seem that nature is being very unkind.

One example might be that our vehicle gets a flat tire and delayed and in the process check-in late for an all important meeting. Well, it looks like nature played a dirty trick on us. But, had we been in full knowledge of things, we would have understood that had it not been for the flat tire, we might have been involved in that nasty accident involving a big trailer along the way.

Nature forgives us for being an atheist, and helps us as long as you love nature and all that is part of it. When one loves nature, loves all, one automatically is loved back by nature.

By the same token, nature also responds with harm on people who harm nature, in whatever way.

Mishaps happen

If you ask around in your city, there have been many accidents when infrastructure projects have been in progress, like iron girders falling on the road killing just one person on that busy road, the road caving in because of the tunneling work on the underground metro etc.,

Other day to day possibilities may involve crane cables snapping and heavy loads falling down, a rogue driver weaving in and out of traffic putting him and others in danger, a faulty traffic signal which shows green at both directions at the same time, a motorist in a hurry who wants to beat the red, an ambulance rushing along at high speed in the wrong lane, a ball-pen getting accidentally thrown off from the top of the Eiffel tower reaching terminal velocity and hurt somebody, the possibilities are endless.

The Solution

Don’t be at the wrong place at the wrong time!

Tuning in with nature

This is a slow process, which involves in getting ourselves tuned with nature’s communications. An analogy would be something like this.

Every cop on rounds is given a wireless transceiver. But, if it is not tuned to the transmitting frequency, neither does the cop receive the messages being transmitted nor will she be able to communicate back.

This is the status of us all, well most of us; our transceivers are de-tuned.

Nature is designed to be kind and self-repairing!

There could be many signals that we receive, which when properly interpreted, would help us. There could be interruptions, incidents that are meant to delay us. Generally, when things like these happen, we consider them as inconveniences or ask ourselves “why is this happening only to me?”, where as in truth, it is nature’s way of protecting us from a greater inconvenience.

But, alas! We have no way to verify that nature is being kind to us because the bad incident did not happen.

Nature tells us things all the time.

These skills or gifts may be available naturally to people who are in the path of seeking higher wisdom. A prayer to the learned teachers of the past every morning and night and all through the day, for guidance would be a great way to begin cultivating an affinity with nature and receive hints about the near future and avoid being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Key: Tune in with Nature

Glossary of Sanskrit terms:
Marana - Death, Kala - In time/Scheduled, Akala - Unscheduled/Sudden, Dur - Bad
